Why are my new hearing aids so loud?

I bought new hearing aids and have been back to adjust them, but they are still too loud.

It can take a little time for you to adjust to new hearing aids. After a long time of not being used to hearing certain sounds, it can be uncomfortable to wear hearing aids for the first time.

When you wear hearing aids for the first time, you may not recognise certain sounds, or sounds may appear loud e.g.  a door squeaking, birds singing, an electric jug, an indicator in the car etc.
It can take a little time to get used to hearing the world around you and working out what the sounds are.  Practise wearing your new aids in different situations and increase the wearing time to help you acclimatise.

Speak to your audiologist about this and for any adjustments that may be made to help you.
